Enjoy the Voerstreek area

The Voerstreek area has a beautiful undulating landscape, is an area of exceptional natural beauty, quiet villages, a number of castles and large farmhouses in broad valleys with meadows and woods. The Voerstreek consists of six districts, together having a total population of slightly more than 4,000 people. The total area is 50 square kilometres.

Limburg is the only part of Flanders on the east side of the river Meuse (Maas), lying exactly between Maastricht and Liege. The Voerstreek is therefore an ideal springboard for anyone wishing to explore the wider area. Located nearby are not only large towns and cities with a great cultural heritage - Maastricht, Liege, Aachen - but also extensive scenic areas - the Ardennes and the “Hoge Venen”.

There is a lot you can do in the Voerstreek:

  • pay a visit to traditional craftsmen and attractions (the “Pietershof” - wine and syrup distillery, beekeeping/pottery, fish farm, farm golf and so on)
  • covered wagon tours
  • swimming and aquatic sports
  • gourmet catering
  • scenic and hiking area
  • cycling
  • mountain-biking
